Exciting News! Portland Local 8 FCU and ILWU Credit Union Announce Merger.
We are excited to announce that on August 20, 2025, the membership of Portland Local 8 Federal Credit Union voted in favor of a resolution to merge with ILWU Federal Credit Union. Together, we are stronger. We thank you for putting your trust in us to continue to serve the financial needs of you and your family.
Effective September 1, 2025, Portland Local 8 FCU officially became part of ILWU Federal Credit Union. On behalf of the ILWU Credit Union and Portland Local 8 FCU Teams, we would like to welcome you to ILWU Credit Union! For more than 70 years, both credit unions have been committed to strengthening the financial well-being of union members while giving back to the communities where our members live and work. This new partnership honors the proud legacy of Portland Local 8 FCU and ensures you remain part of a credit union that understands the unique financial needs of union workers and their families—offering products and services designed specifically for you.
This merger reflects our shared commitment to providing the very best for our members while ensuring continued growth and success. This partnership will increase operating efficiencies so we will have the resources to deliver more to the combined membership, including a dedicated Call Center, enhanced digital banking, new products and services, reduced service fees, highly competitive rates and much more!
As a reminder, our Portland Local 8 FCU Branch and the team members you have come to know and trust will continue to be here to serve you. At this time, no changes will be made to your accounts. Please continue to conduct your financial transactions as usual.
ON DECEMBER 1, 2025, YOUR ACCOUNTS WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO ILWU CREDIT UNION.
Portland Local 8 FCU’s core processing system will be converted to ILWU Credit Union on December 1, 2025. We are currently operating separately, and Portland Local 8 FCU members are unable to transact business directly with ILWU Credit Union until December 1. You will receive important information in the coming months about our integration plans, any changes to your accounts, and the new benefits and services that will soon be available to you. We will work diligently to ensure your transition to ILWU Credit Union is as smooth as possible and we will keep you informed about any changes to your account(s) and services along the way.
